As the respected American magazine, Car and Driver eloquently said in 1984: "This here ain't no Little Bo-Peep car. It's no breathless blue-blood bunny banger for tripping ever so daintily down the lane. This is a car for kicking ass."
Welcome to my Pantera Web Site
#1660 is the realization of my long desire to own a DeTomaso Pantera and represents the end of a five-year search. Pantera's first came to my attention in 1970 while looking through my stepfather's Playboy magazine, I was only 11 years old and apparently very curious! I became instantly enamored of the Pantera, in fact I cut out the ad in his magazine (there's another story there, thinking that because it was a car ad that I had removed and not a centerfold that I wouldn't get into trouble... I was wrong). I displayed it framed on my bedroom wall, in my college dorm, my first apartment and in a series of garages for the next 30 years, and I still have it today.
I've had a lot of other cars (Corvette, Mustang, Marcos, Triumph(s),Volvo, Audi, BMW, Porsche(s), Jag(s), Dino Ferrari, Mercedes-Benz, SCCA Sports Racer(s) plus an assortment of trucks and SUV's) in the years since removing that ad, but the bright yellow DeTomaso Pantera pictured in that advertisement never left my mind. I knew one day I would have to acquire it to satisfy my boyhood fantasies.
I first test drove #1660 in October 2004 after seeing it advertised on eBay, I bid several times and was the high bidder on two separate listings, yet the seller's reserve price wasn't reached either time. I stayed in contact with him for months, arranged a visit to Florida and test drove the car. Several months later we finally negotiated an agreeable price and I brought it home in July 2005.
Is it everything I thought it would be? Yes and more!
Enjoy the site, I hope that you find it informative and that it might help
fuel your quest for that one thing you've always wanted too!
